History of Mount Sinai
Mount Sinai is the first mountain all over the world that has three colors, black in night, grey in day, and red in the morning. On this mountain, one cannot find any food, water, planets, or any animals. Allah took 70 lives of Bane Israel nation on Mount Sinai and gave them life again. Furthermore, 33, 00 years ago, Prophet Musa brought Bane Israel from Egypt to Mount Sinai. Prophet Musa used to climb on Mount Sinai for prayers. One day, on the desire of Prophet Musa, God appeared on Mount Sinai, the mountains were set apart in small pieces, and after that day, Mount Sinai was desolate. God commanded Prophet Musa to go on E’tikaf for 40 days for a grateful award by him. Prophet Musa went there, made a small comforting place for himself, and worshiped God for 40 days. Later on, God increased the days to seven more. Prophet Musa stayed there in the hope of light and God granted him Tawrat for his patience.
Prophet Musa went back with Tawrat to Bane Israel. On Tawrat, there were 10 commands from God for Bane Israel.
- You shall have no there Gods before me.
- You shall not make idols.
- You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.
- Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
- Honor your father and mother.
- You shall not murder.
- You shall not commit adultery.
- You shall not steal.
- You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
- You shall not covet.
These were the first ethical rules, which came into the world to teach humanity to people. Before that, nobody had sense of living life with respect. Prophet Musa used to offer prayer in morning and went for E’tikaf of 40 days and that is how people followed his Sunnah and started offering Fajar and normalized E’tikaf in Ramzan. Jewish still offer Fajar, Bane Israel offer two prayers (Morning and Evening) and Muslims used to pray two prayers before the command of five times.
The Burning Bush
Prophet Musa was walking with his sheep and one sheep ran into the cave. Prophet Musa went after him and saw a Burning Bush. He put his stick in it but it was not heated, he got curious and tried to touch the Burning Bush with his hand and his hand did not burn. He was shocked and started hearing whisper of “Musa, Musa.”
“Here I am,” Moses replied. Do not come closer, God said. Take off your sandals as you are standing on holy ground.
God commanded Musa to head back to Egypt, free all Hebrews, and guide them to Israel. Prophet was little bit anxious, God comforted him with saying He is the one and can handle everything. After that, Bush was again green and did not burn all.
