Egypt has a lot of historic background. Mount Sinai is the best place in Egypt because it holds a long religious history. Jewish, Christian and Muslims favorite place to visit is Mount Sinai because despite the fact they have different beliefs; all of them have emotional attachment with it and that’s what make them unite at some point.

History of Mount Sinai

Mount Sinai is the first mountain all over the world that has three colors, black in night, grey in day, and red in the morning. On this mountain, one cannot find any food, water, planets, or any animals. Allah took 70 lives of Bane Israel nation on Mount Sinai and gave them life again. God commanded Prophet Musa to go on E’tikaf for 40 days for a grateful award by him. Prophet Musa went there, made a small comforting place for himself, and worshiped God for 40 days. Later on, God increased the days to seven more. Prophet Musa stayed there in the hope of light and God granted him Tawrat for his patience.

10 commandments

Prophet Musa went back with Tawrat to Bane Israel. On Tawrat, there were 10 commands from God for Bane Israel.

  • You shall have no there Gods before me.
  • You shall not make idols.
  • You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.
  • Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
  • Honor your father and mother.
  • You shall not murder.
  • You shall not commit adultery.
  • You shall not steal.
  • You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
  • You shall not covet.

These were the first ethical rules, which came into the world to teach humanity to people. Before that, nobody had sense of living life with respect. Prophet Musa used to offer prayer in morning and went for E’tikaf of 40 days and that is how people followed his Sunnah and started offering Fajar and normalized E’tikaf in Ramzan. Jewish still offer Fajar, Bane Israel offer two prayers (Morning and Evening) and Muslims used to pray two prayers before the command of five times.

 The Burning Bush

Prophet Musa was walking with his sheep and one sheep ran into the cave. Prophet Musa went after him and saw a Burning Bush. He put his stick in it but it was not heated, he got curious and tried to touch the Burning Bush with his hand and his hand did not burn. He was shocked and started hearing whisper of “Musa, Musa.” 

“Here I am,” Moses replied. Do not come closer, God said. Take off your sandals as you are standing on holy ground.

God commanded Musa to head back to Egypt, free all Hebrews, and guide them to Israel. Prophet was little bit anxious, God comforted him with saying He is the one and can handle everything. After that, Bush was again green and did not burn all.

All the tourists who come to visit Mount Sinai must visit to the Burning Bush place. They crave to feel the blossom of God’s smell on that place.

Weather on Mount Sinai

In daylight, Mount Sinai is unbearably hot that you will be sweating in few minutes. In Nighttime, Mount Sinai is so cold that after wearing warm clothes you would still crave for blanket. It is freezing in night. Typically, the temperature varies from 24°F to 82°F and barely stays low at 10°F or above 89°F.

 Egypt does not allow climbing on Mount Sinai in day light because they have fear of being attacked by Israel. Once you are there to head out on Mount Sinai, Army will check tourists everything to make sure that they are the safe ones to travel on Mount Sinai. Tourists cannot turn on torchlights because of the security. Local people have made small rest rooms with stiff mud. Tourists can stay up there for one hour in the wait of sunrise. If you want to drink a tea, you can get it in $2 and blanket in $3. The height of Koh E Toor is 7,000 and tourists have to climb in one night.

Make sure that you have all the necessary things with yourself. There are high chances to be sick with cold, so don’t forget to bring your warn clothes, gloves and jackets.
