Group tour or do it yourself, an honest comparison for Türkiye
Where a group departure genuinely beats booking Türkiye yourself, where it does not, and the parts of a group trip we would want you to know about before you pay rather than after.

We sell group departures, so read this knowing that. It is written the way we would explain it to a cousin, which means it includes the cases where you should not book with us.
Türkiye is the trip where this question comes up most, because it is the one people feel they could arrange themselves. Often they could.
Start with the visa, because it decides a lot
A Pakistani passport needs a visa for Türkiye. Which route applies to you depends on your circumstances and the rules are revised, so the first thing to do, whichever way you travel, is confirm which process applies to you before you plan anything around it.
On our departure we prepare and submit your visa file for you. The fee itself sits outside the package price, and we will put the current figure in writing before you pay anything. Doing it yourself means the file is yours: the forms, the appointment if one is required, the documents, and the wait.
For a lot of people this single item settles the question. If the process worries you enough that you have been putting the trip off for two years, that is a real cost even though it does not appear on any invoice.
What a group departure actually buys you
- One figure instead of eleven. Flights, hotels, transport between cities, the listed sightseeing and the meal pattern are inside one price you agree before you go. What you spend on top is your own spending, and you decide how much that is.
- A file that is already supported. Your visa application goes in with confirmed flights and hotels behind it, because those are already booked for the group.
- Nobody has to solve anything. Transfers meet you. The route between Istanbul, Konya and Cappadocia is arranged, including the train leg. If something goes wrong there is a person whose job it is to fix it, and you are not doing that in a language you do not read.
- No arrival problem. The first two hours in a foreign airport are where a first trip goes wrong. On a group, that part is handled.
- Company. For a solo traveller, particularly a first time solo traveller, this is not a small thing. A women only Türkiye departure also runs; ask us for its dates.
What you give up
We would rather you heard this from us.
- The dates are fixed. You travel when the group travels.
- The pace is fixed. There are early starts, and there are days where you would happily have stayed longer somewhere and the coach is leaving.
- The hotels are chosen for you. The class is stated on the destination page, and it is the same for everyone.
- Sharing. Group pricing assumes you are sharing a room. Your own room costs more.
- Free time exists but it is not the trip. If your idea of Istanbul is three unplanned days of wandering, a fixed departure will frustrate you.
- You travel with people you did not choose. Most people find this is the best part. Some do not.
When you should just do it yourself
Book Türkiye independently if most of these are true:
- You have travelled internationally before and the airports do not worry you.
- You are comfortable handling your own visa file, or you have held visas before.
- You want to choose your own hotels, or you want to travel cheaply and are happy with simple rooms and public transport.
- You want to stay two weeks, or three days, rather than the length of the tour.
- You are travelling with your own family and you would rather have your own timetable than company.
Independent travel can come out cheaper, and it can come out more expensive. The honest version is that it depends on how you travel, what the exchange rate does between booking and going, and whether anything goes wrong. A group price is not always the lowest number. It is a fixed number, and for a lot of people that is what they are actually buying.
When a group is the right answer
- It is your first trip abroad, or your first without family who have done it before.
- The visa process is the reason you have not gone yet.
- You want everything booked before you leave and nothing to decide in a foreign city.
- You are travelling with parents or with children, where a problem at eleven at night is not just an inconvenience.
- You want to know your total cost before you go.
Two things to do before you pay anybody
Ask what happens to your money if the visa is refused, in writing. Here is why that question matters and how to ask it.
And read what a group price does and does not include, with a real example broken down: what a Baku group tour really costs. The structure is the same for Türkiye, and the destination pages carry the current figures with the date we last checked them.
